Boutique Hub Style Team | Season 1: Kelsey Renfro

Today we’re introducing you to Kelsey Renfro, another member of our Style Team | Season 1! This fashion blogger hails from Florida, and has a style that is definitely all her own!

Tell us a little bit about where you’re from, if you have a job other than influencing, your family, etc.!
I grew up in Pittsburg, KS, a small town in the southeast corner of the state. I lived there up until almost two years ago when my little family moved to central Florida. I currently work in the entertainment lighting industry. On top of that, I’m a full-time momma and wife.

How would you describe your personal style?
It’s always hard for me to define my style because I feel that it varies so much depending on my mood, or day of the week. Typically, I like to think I’m a good mix of edgy and girly. I wear a bunch of ripped skinny jeans, but you can find a whole lot of floral and glitter in my closet. I’m not afraid of the obnoxious or wearing things that other people wouldn’t be caught dead in.

What’s your favorite aspect of fashion?
That I can make it whatever I want. It’s completely up to me, and I can change it as my personal style changes. You are never stuck in a box when it comes to fashion.

Kelsey Renfro | The Boutique HubWhat’s currently your favorite piece in your closet?
I recently purchased this denim jacket that has these adorable roses embroidered all over it. I’ve only had it a month and have worn it at least 5 times!

Who is your biggest style inspiration, or style icon?
You know what’s funny? I don’t think I’ve ever looked at a celebrity and thought “I wanna dress just like her.” I think I get inspiration from people I see on a daily basis, friends I have on social media, and influencers on Instagram. I’m way more likely to buy a cute pair of shoes after seeing my friend wearing them at church on Sunday then I would ever be after seeing them on Kim Kardashian.

More importantly, dark or milk chocolate?
Dark!

Kelsey Renfro | The Boutique HubWhat’s your favorite way to unwind?
Honestly, I love the end of the day when my entire family is in pajamas and we all snuggle up together and watch a movie. It’s not glamorous, and most of the time it’s an animated movie I’ve seen a million times, but there are not many things in the world that can beat that moment.

What’s your favorite fashion season?
Fall! I miss not having a true Fall season since in Florida it stays pretty consistent year round.

What is your favorite social network and why?
Instagram! I feel that the Instagram community is much more positive and engaging than Facebook. I’m also into Snapchat at the moment. I typically use it to share more of my life, aside from the blog stuff.

Kelsey Renfro | The Boutique HubIf you could give advice to a young person, interested in fashion, and maybe one day hoping to become a blogger or influencer – what would you tell them?
Engage, engage and engage! Get to know other bloggers and influencers. Learn from them. Be genuine and engage with other profiles in your network. And most importantly, be yourself!

How long have you been a blogger or fashion influencer?
Mom Genes just turned 1 in March!

How did your blog get started? Any fun stories behind your name?
It literally was an “I think I’m going to start a blog today” type of moment. I had always wanted to, but obviously had no idea what I was doing. I’m a very impulsive person, so once I made my mind up on starting a blog, I really dove in and went full steam ahead. The name Mom Genes came from a play on words from the term “Mom Jeans.” I wanted to incorporate how I felt it was important to love your post-baby body and own what you got.

Kelsey Renfro | The Boutique HubWhat are your favorite trends at the moment?
Everything 90’s! Also, give me all the kimonos. I could wear one every day!

If you styled a celebrity– who would it be?
Taylor Swift- Just so I could meet her.

Which boutiques do you like to shop with, and why boutiques?
I love knowing that when I shop at a boutique, that I’m supporting my friends. I couldn’t’ tell you how many boutique owners I’m friends with on Facebook. I see pictures from their kid’s birthdays and soccer games. I follow their lives, and they follow mine. They put their kids to bed and quietly package up my order in their living room so they don’t wake them up. To me, it’s always been more important to give business to boutiques over a big retailer. When I shop at a boutique, I’m supporting someone’s dream, and that will always take top priority for me.
