Creating #StayAtHome Spaces

Creating #StayAtHome Spaces that promote wellness is what the future holds in design. Every dark cloud has a silver lining. There’s nothing like being forced to #StayAtHome during a global pandemic to force you into reevaluating your lifestyle. Although I would have loved to skip dealing with COVID-19, my family and I have made some positive permanent changes in our home. They are going to last long after the #Coronavirus is over. I’m not alone in this shift. Here are the 5 design trends that aren’t going away.

Work From Home Spaces

Working from home is the new normal. So it’s no surprise that this made the top of the #StayAtHome spaces must-have list. It is easier to carve out a professional space for your Zoom meetings than you might think! The most creative of these ideas is the cloffice. You can create a petite office that neatly tucks away out of underutilized closet space. I have 6 kids, so there isn’t a closet in my house that’s getting underutilized right now but I love the idea. Check out some of the creative ideas below for inspiration.

{Quarantine} Cooking Spaces

I’ve often said that cooking is the heart of the home but life during a pandemic took it to a whole new level for me. Even our takeout options are limited. So we practically live in ours now. As a result, we made the decision to remodel ours and purge any unnecessary clutter. If the Lowes parking lot and my “Trending on Pinterest” feed are any indications, I’m not alone. These days, large cooking spaces with ample storage for toilet paper are a must.

Another kitchen must-have is organized pantries. It saves time and money.

Staying Fit While You #StayAtHome

Staying fit from home is a great way to help your body and mind. Gyms are closed and more people than ever are working out from home. Whether you want a traditional fitness room or enjoy virtual classes there are multiple ways to carve out space and make fitness a priority.

Privacy

Open concept spaces have been with us for a while now. I’m as big a fan as the next woman. But over the past few months, it has become a necessity to put space between ourselves and each other. Everything is being managed from home now and for our sanity, we need to designate space for all of them, indoors, or out.

Outdoor Spaces

Being required to #StayAtHome doesn’t mean you have to give up being outside. One trend that is here to stay is creating outdoor entertaining spaces that can be used year-round. Here are a few of my favorites.

Creating #StayAtHome spaces that provide a healthy, happy, and well-balanced place for our loved ones to gather is the one design trend that you can count on to never go out of style.
