Our favorite fashion trends of 2019 are making their way into homes & we couldn’t be more excited!!! Natural materials, bold colors, and unique textures are big this year. Here are the latest home decor trends from the top bloggers and influencers to help you create a stylish space.
Natural Materials
Woven textiles are back but this isn’t your mother’s macrame owl from the ’70s. This Bohemian home decor trend uses organic, natural materials like wicker, rattan, and stone. It pairs perfectly with the ever-popular Farmhouse Style. Details like pom-poms, tassels, and fringe add interest and texture.
Bold Color
For the past few years, social media feeds have been a sea of white subway tile and 50 shades of greige. Our Spring Color Report announced bold color was coming your way! Trending colors in home decor are mustard yellow, electric blue, burnt orange, and green. If you thought millennial pink might be over, you are wrong. Blush is everywhere right now and considered a new neutral!
Globally Inspired Decor
World travelers who have collected treasures from across the globe are the inspiration for this look. This style is an eclectic combination of natural textures, tribal patterns, and animal prints. The good news? You don’t need to need to go to Bali to find globally-inspired decor.
Navajo & Tribal Decor
Vintage Navajo textiles can cost a fortune and are most definitely not “kid and pet-friendly”. Sandi Johnson from The Spoiled Home added some Native American style to her home with this vintage-inspired wall hanging.
Mixed Metals
Appliances, hardware, and lighting are no longer matchy-matchy. Shea McGee has perfected this look. Choose 2-3 metals that you think would work well together. Pick one as your dominant color and use the others as accent colors. Hint: black goes with everything!
Matte Black Paint & Finishes
We can thank Modern Farmhouse for this updated classic. A black and white palette doesn’t have to be boring. You can create visual interest with a limited palette by using different sheens. This works best in rooms with a lot of natural lighting. Contrast the dark cabinets with lighter countertops, walls, and tile.
Wood Accent Walls
Holly and Brad from Our Faux Farmhouse have built an enormous following on Instagram, updating their Austin, TX home. Their beautiful feed is proof positive a little MDF can go a long, long way!
Mural Wallpaper
Shaila Ashcroft created the perfect retreat for her young granddaughter when she visits.
